Misconceptions of the Human Condition #9 - Kids Need to Learn to Share

Who started this bullshit about sharing? Why do we have to teach our kids to share their toys with other kids? Do you share your toys with other grow up? Didn't think so.

I remember when my son was about 2, he had just gotten a new Thomas the Tank engine train, I think it was Gordon. Anyway, he wanted to be the only person to play with it when he had friends over that weekend because he was excited and proud of his new toy. The neighbor girl came over with her mom and we were in the playroom where my son and her daugher were playing with the trains. She wanted Gordon and my son said no and they started arguing and my neighbor says to my son, "you've got to share, " and I though "fuck you are you going to let me drive your new car to work tomorrow?" So I said, "its ok buddy you can keep it." and I told my neighbor that sharing was bullshit.

Misconceptions of the Human Condition #11 - Enough Time

"Whats your hurry?"
" Slow down! Where's the fire?"

Utterances of people with nothing to do. I, on the other hand need to get down the road, through this line, out of this store or off this plane because waiting for shit is not on my to-do list.

Someone commented to me the other day that I am an "out of the ordinary person" in that I finish what I start and I start lots of stuff. Essentially that I am hyper-productive. I don't know if I agree or not, but it may come from my need to "get it over with already."

That comment though made me think about all the things that I do get done and wonder what the point sometimes is. When its all said and done did I have enough time and did I spend it wisely?

Speaking of time, how have we all become so damn busy with bullshit like work, soccer games and Facebook that we don't have enough time to stay connected to the people that should be more important to us. Those people that we share childhood memories with and who knew us when. Those people that you spent every Saturday morning with watching cartoons and eating Fruit Loops, that lived across the street that one day later you'd both practice driving on in your dad's car. The people who didn't care if you had other friends because they did too, but knew that when no one was available you had each other.

Make the time.

Misconceptions of the Human Condition #8 - Getting Along

Why can't we all just get along? Really? Is there a stupider question to ask? Why, because we are all a bunch of ignorant, self serving, suspicious assholes.

Actually its fear. Fear of difference, fear of being made a fool of, fear of being wrong, fear of winning, fear of failure, fear of being afraid.

We can't get along because we are all afraid of one another, and that is just sad.

I'm not afraid...
